Installation and configuring plug-in Meta Tag Manager (SEO)

The plugin rewrites the meta title, meta keywords and meta description of your store pages by rules - for all products, categories, manufacturers, the home page and many other pages at once, without editing each product or category. The text is built from tokens, so it stays correct when you rename a product or move it to another category.

It's easy to configure the plugin. See pictures.

1. After the installation open FoxNetSoft > MetaTag Manager in the admin menu. 'List' is the list of your meta tag rules, 'Configure' is the plugin configure page.

2. Open 'Configure', enable 'Enable plugin' and press 'Save'. The rules work only when the plugin is enabled. When it is disabled your store shows the standard nopCommerce meta tags.
The plugin replaces the nopCommerce component that builds the page title and meta tags. Only one plugin can do it. If another plugin already replaced it, the configure page shows the error 'Plugin cannot work. You are using another plugin ...' with the name of that plugin. Remove the other plugin.

3. Open 'List' and press 'Add new'. Select in 'Type' the page the rule is for: Product, Category, Manufacturer, HomePage, Vendor, Search page, News, Blogs, New Products page, Contact Us page, Product Tags page, Product Review page and others. 'Articles' and 'Collection' are pages of other plugins, they are not in the standard nopCommerce.
'Enabled'. Untick it to keep the rule as a draft.
'Priority'. The plugin sorts the rules by Priority from 0 to 99999 and uses the first rule that fits the page. Example. You created a rule with Priority = 10 for all products and a rule with Priority = 5 for the products with a discount. A product with a discount gets the second rule, all other products get the first one.

4. Write the 'Meta title', 'Meta keywords' and 'Meta description'. Press 'Show' near 'Allowed tokens' to see the tokens for the selected type. The product page has the most of them: %Name%, %Product.Sku%, %Product.Gtin%, %Category.Name%, %Manufacturer.Name%, %RootCategory.Name%, %Store.Name% and others.
%OldValue% inserts the value nopCommerce would show without the rule, so you could add a text to it and not replace it.
The 'Standard' tab is used for all languages. Fill the language tabs if you need a different text for a language.
If a field is empty, the page keeps its standard nopCommerce value.

5. Category, Manufacturer, Vendor, Search, News, Blogs and Product Tags pages have paging. A rule without 'For second and next pages' works only for the first page. A rule with 'For second and next pages' works only for page 2, 3 and so on. Create two rules if you need both. It's important for SEO, because page 2 should not repeat the title and description of page 1.
Use the token %pagenumber% to add the page number to the text.

6. You could change the meta tags of any other page of your store, also the pages of other plugins. Select the type 'Custom page' and enter 'The name of Controller' and 'The name of Action' of this page. Example. Customer and Register are the registration page.

7. Press 'Save and Continue Edit'. The other tabs of the rule work only after the rule is saved.
'Product mappings' - the rule works only for these products.
'Category mappings' - the rule works only for these categories (for a Product rule - for the products of these categories). A parent category includes its child categories.
'Manufacturer mappings' - the rule works only for these manufacturers (for a Product rule - for the products of these manufacturers).
'Conditions' - only for the Product type. Example. Price greater than 100, Quantity, Has Special Price, Has Old Price, Has Discount (percent), Product Age Days, Free Shipping, Pre Order or a value of a specification attribute.
A rule without mappings and conditions works for all pages of its type.

8. You could see the rules of a product on the product edit page in the 'MetaTag Manager' block. Press 'Add a new meta tag' to add an existing rule to this product. The category and manufacturer edit pages have the same block.

9. If you have several stores, use 'Limited to stores' on the rule to use it in one store only. 'Admin comment' is a note for you, the customers do not see it.
The plugin changes only the page title, meta keywords and meta description.
